Vectorworks Fundamentals

Length – 2 or 3 days (see description below)
Prerequisite: Drafting experience, familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system.

The goal of this seminar is to provide a working knowledge of the most important aspects of 2D and 3D drawing in Vectorworks, including essential drawing and editing techniques, symbols and other resources, file organization using layers and classes, saved views and viewports, and the key elements to creating a drawing system. This course can be configured as either a two-day or three-day class. The shorter course will cover 2D drawing only, while the longer version will introduce 3D modeling as well.

Vectorworks Architect Fundamentals

Length – 3 days
Prerequisite: Drafting experience, familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system.

This three-day class focuses on program fundamentals within the context of Vectorworks Architect’s specialized tools and technology. It is intended for people who work in architecture, homebuilding, interior design, or other related design disciplines. The objective of the seminar is to give the participant a basic knowledge of the most important aspects of 2D and 3D drawing in Vectorworks Architect, including essential drawing techniques, principles of file organization for common drawing types, walls and drawing of plans, symbols, parametric tools and libraries, roofs, and automated door schedules.

Vectorworks Landmark

Length – 3 days
Prerequisite: Drafting experience, familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system.

This three-day class focuses on program fundamentals within the context of Vectorworks Landmark’s specialized tools and technology. It is intended for people already familiar with the basic operation of Vectorworks who work in landscape architecture, design, contracting, or other related disciplines. The objective of the seminar is to give the participant a basic knowledge of the most important aspects of 2D and 3D drawing in Vectorworks Landmark, including essential drawing techniques, principles of file organization for common drawing types, creation of planting plans with automated plant lists, and an introduction to site modeling.

Vectorworks Spotlight

Length – 3 days
Prerequisite: Drafting experience, familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system.

This course provides an introduction to the main elements of Vectorworks Spotlight for users in theatrical lighting, scenic design, and event production. Topics include efficient file organization in Spotlight; construction of a base plan, including import from AutoCAD and common drafting techniques; introduction to 3D modeling tools and techniques; Spotlight’s specialized parametric tools for the creation of lighting instruments, trusses, curtains, and seating layouts; creation of light plots including light positions, focus points, inserting instruments, and label legends; calculation of photometric data; placement of notes, dimensions, and legends; generation of paperwork from your Spotlight drawing, including instrument schedule, hookups for channel, dimmer and circuit, as well as automated inventory lists and magic sheets; file export to other applications; and introduction to rendered visualizations.
